Clinical Experience of Mesexin^(®) for the Patients of Plastic Surgery with Wound Infections

Abstract
|

|
Methylolcephalexin lysinate(mesexin°) is a Semi-Synthetic broad-spectrum cephalospor in anti-biotics and has a bactericidal action against f-lac tmase producing Staphylococci and gram-positive cocci, including methicillin-resistant strains of Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermis.
This study reports the reults of parenteral Methylolcephalexin lysinate(Mesexin°) therapy in patients wound infections.
In addition, its serum level determination were performed in 29 patients.
A daily dose of 3-6 grams of Mesexin° was administered intravenously to twenty nine patients for seven to twenty days.
The results were as follow
1. The clinical effects of Mesexin° on plastic surgical field were excellent in 26 patients, except for 3 patients with side effects.
2. Mesexin° had an excellent antibacterial activity against fl-lactamse producing Staphylococci especially.
3. The side effects accurred in the 3 case, and its were nausea, vomiting, urticaria and tinnitus.
But its side effects were not serious, and immediately subsided by disconnection of drug.
There fore Mesexin° was thought to be one of the most effective antibiotics on plastic surgical field with serious infection for Staphylococcus aureus.
