Clinical Experience of Mesexin^(¢ç) for the Patients of Plastic Surgery with Wound Infections

Abstract
Methylolcephalexin lysinate(mesexin¡Æ) is a Semi-Synthetic broad-spectrum cephalospor in anti-biotics and has a bactericidal action against f-lac tmase producing Staphylococci and gram-positive cocci, including methicillin-resistant strains of Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermis.
This study reports the reults of parenteral Methylolcephalexin lysinate(Mesexin¡Æ) therapy in patients wound infections.
In addition, its serum level determination were performed in 29 patients.
A daily dose of 3-6 grams of Mesexin¡Æ was administered intravenously to twenty nine patients for seven to twenty days.
The results were as follow
1. The clinical effects of Mesexin¡Æ on plastic surgical field were excellent in 26 patients, except for 3 patients with side effects.
2. Mesexin¡Æ had an excellent antibacterial activity against fl-lactamse producing Staphylococci especially.
3. The side effects accurred in the 3 case, and its were nausea, vomiting, urticaria and tinnitus.
But its side effects were not serious, and immediately subsided by disconnection of drug.
There fore Mesexin¡Æ was thought to be one of the most effective antibiotics on plastic surgical field with serious infection for Staphylococcus aureus.
